The short answer: Search Settings for history. Some Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO builds include Notification history (usually under Notifications & Control Center). Many HyperOS and MIUI builds don’t, even on Android 11 or newer. If search finds nothing, your phone doesn’t have the screen, and a notification saver app is the way to get one.
On a Pixel, notification history is one toggle away. Xiaomi is the brand where people most often search for it and come up empty. That’s because of how Xiaomi builds its software, not because you’re looking in the wrong place.
How to check whether your phone has it
- Open Settings and type history into the search box at the top.
- If Notification history appears, open it and switch on Use notification history.
- If you’d rather browse, look under Settings → Notifications & Control Center. Depending on the build it may also be under Notifications & status bar.
If the search comes back empty, stop looking. The screen isn’t hidden behind a menu you haven’t found. It isn’t included in your build.
Why many Xiaomi phones don’t have it
Notification history is part of standard Android from version 11. HyperOS and MIUI replace most of Android’s settings and notification screens with Xiaomi’s own designs, and the history screen isn’t always carried over. Two phones on the same Android version can differ depending on the model, the region and the update.
You’ll find guides that open the hidden Android screen with an “activity launcher” app. On some builds that works. On others it opens a screen that never records anything, because Xiaomi’s notification system doesn’t feed it. It isn’t a reliable fix.
If your phone does have it
It behaves like everywhere else on Android:
- It’s off until you turn it on, and it records nothing from before that.
- It keeps about 24 hours. There’s no setting to keep more.
- It keeps text only. Photos and stickers aren’t saved.
- It’s one list across every app. You can’t filter it to one person.

Keeping notifications on any Xiaomi phone
A notification saver works whether or not your build has the history screen, because it doesn’t rely on that screen at all. It uses the standard notification access permission, which every Xiaomi phone supports, and writes each notification down as it arrives.
NotiWeave is built and tested on Xiaomi phones running HyperOS. It saves notifications from the apps you choose and groups them into one thread per sender. Photos that arrive with a notification stay in the thread, and nothing ages out after a day.
One sender, one thread, in date order. Works the same on builds that ship Android's history screen and builds that don't.
The step that matters most on Xiaomi: Autostart
HyperOS and MIUI close background apps more aggressively than almost any other Android skin. When that happens, Android tries to reconnect a notification app, and Xiaomi blocks the reconnection unless the app is allowed to start on its own.
So any notification saver on a Xiaomi phone needs:
- Autostart turned on for the app.
- Battery saver set to No restrictions for the app.
NotiWeave asks for both during setup and opens the right Xiaomi screen for you. If notifications stop being saved after a while, Autostart is the first thing to check. The same setting is behind many cases of notifications not showing on Android.
Two honest limits: no app can save what arrived before it was set up, and everything NotiWeave saves stays on your phone, as the privacy policy explains.
Common questions
Does Xiaomi have notification history?
Some builds do and many don’t. Search Settings for “history” to find out on your phone in a few seconds.
Does Redmi or POCO have notification history?
Redmi and POCO run the same HyperOS or MIUI software as Xiaomi-branded phones, so the answer is the same: check with Settings search.
I updated to HyperOS and notification history is gone. Can I get it back?
Not from settings. If the update didn’t include the screen, nothing can switch it back on. A notification saver app is the replacement.
Can I recover a notification I already cleared?
Only if notification history was on and it was in the last day. Otherwise it wasn’t recorded anywhere, and no app can recover it.
Why does my notification app stop working on Xiaomi?
Almost always because Autostart is off. Xiaomi closes the app in the background and then blocks Android from reconnecting it. Turn on Autostart and set battery saver to No restrictions.
If your Xiaomi does have the history screen, turn it on today. If it doesn’t, a notification saver gives you the same safety net, and more than one day of it.
